Creffield Conservation Area

Appraisal 21 from Ealing Council

Location

The central core of the Creffield conservation area is Creffield Road, surrounded by Inglis Road, Freeland Road and Wolverton Gardens to the West; and by Western Gardens, Montague Gardens and Layer Gardens to the East. It also includes Daniel Road and five houses at the north end of Birch Grove.

Designation

The conservation area was designated in 1993.

In 2005 the area was expanded to include parts of: Oakley Avenue (South side), Twyford Avenue, The Japanese School, Birch Grove, Hale Gardens, Stanway Gardens, Twyford Crescent and Gardens, Twyford School and parts of the South side of the Uxbridge Road.

During September and October 2006, Ealing Council Conservation Department are reviewing our Conservation Character Statement. CARA along with the Civic Society have been consulted.

Major concerns have included:

Loss of front gardens

Loss of original style timber frame windows

Tall front walls

Satellite dishes incorrectly placed.

Velux windows and dormers to the front elevation

Painting of brickwork.

Loss of stain glass front doors and surrounds.

Loss of chimneys
